Description:

The Pentos app was previously featured on Apple's What's Hot in Board Games for over three months, as well as in What's Hot in Puzzles. Sara Haley from examiner.com describes the gameplay as solid, self-explanatory, and engaging. The app offers smooth animated piece movement, with rotation and flipping in 3D, along with thousands of puzzles to choose from, different board options, and various difficulty levels. Players also have access to hints for all puzzles and the option to time themselves. One impressive feature is that all settings are preserved even after quitting the app.

The objective of Pentos is to cover a rectangular checkerboard using twelve pieces called pentominoes, each representing a unique way to arrange five unit squares so that their edges align. Players need to strategically place these pieces on the board to cover each white square.

One notable aspect of Pentos is the ability to challenge friends by solving puzzles against the clock. The app allows players to compete and see who can solve the same puzzle the fastest. Furthermore, if a timed game is interrupted, the timing will resume when players return to Pentos.

Pentos offers an intuitive interface where players can easily drag and place pieces on the board, rotate them by tapping or flipping them in 3D with double-taps. The app features realistic animations for piece movements and provides visual cues, like a star icon, when pieces overlap incorrectly. In case of mistakes, players can reset puzzles with a simple shake gesture on their device.
